As parents, there are days when everything runs smoothly- we get to drop-off on time. We make a delicious dinner. The kids go to sleep willingly. And then – there’s the other days. The ones where we’re running on caffeine and crossed fingers, hoping to make it to soccer with the right uniform. If you’ve lived through both of those experiences (or might one day!), then Rockwern Academy’s upcoming event with Alicia Jo Rabins is for you.

Rockwern Academy’s Division of Adulting will host parents (and those who are anywhere on a parenting journey) at The Columns on April 28, at 7:00 PM. This event is co-sponsored by Hillel at Miami University, Jewish Family Service, Mayerson JCC, Northern Hills Synagogue, Rockdale Temple, and Valley Temple.

Rockwern is excited to welcome Alicia, all the way from Portland, Oregon, to discuss ancient Jewish wisdom about the parenting journey (including surprising rabbinic texts about how sometimes it’s really, really hard)! You are invited to enjoy snacks and drinks, build community with fellow parents, and explore how Judaism can support us–and how we can support each other–in both the beauty and difficulty of this season of our lives.

Alicia is an accomplished author, artist, performer, musician, and Torah teacher. Her books include “Even God Had Bad Parenting Days,” her recently published memoir, “When We’re Born, We Forget Everything,” and “Hallelujah: The Story of Leonard Cohen.” Also in April, Rockwern students in kindergarten through eighth grade will benefit from a visit from Alicia, who will share music and her experience as an author.

Most importantly, this will be an opportunity to come together as a community, laugh at shared experiences, and leave feeling seen. The event is open to all, and tickets are $18 and include light bites and drinks. Learn more and purchase tickets here.

Rockwern Academy is Cincinnati’s Jewish community day school serving 250 students from 12 months old through eighth grade. The school’s mission is to expand minds, nurture community, celebrate Judaism, and build a better world. Rockwern’s Division of Adulting invites adults to connect with the Jewish community through meaningful experiences.
